SAP Communities

Since its beginnings, SAP scholars actively participated in several institutionalized communities, notably the Academy of Management, the European Group for Organizational Studies, and the Strategic Management Society.

Each SAP Community provides a lot of exciting and fun opportunities for early-career researchers to connect with other SAP scholars. There are many ways to become an active part of a community – just reach out to a fellow SAP colleague and get involved!

Lorenzo Skade, Research Associate | European University Viadrina

As a member of the SAP IG community, I have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers from all over the world and share my work with a global audience. The support and guidance provided by the community has been invaluable to my professional development, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a vibrant and engaged group.

Elisa Lehrer, Research Associate | European University Viadrina

If you think conventional views of strategy are too limiting, then the SAP community is for you. If you have a broader view, joining SAP is the best way to connect an interest in innovative stategy teaching and research to your interests in other divisions.

Stephen Cummings, Professor of Management | Victoria University of Wellington/Te Herenga Waka, Aotearoa New Zealand

SAP is all about what people do and say in organizations. It is exciting to see that so many people are interested in these mundane practices, and it is great to be part of this pulsating and supportive community. The SAP-IN website offers several opportunities to become a member of the community.

Dr. Christian Mahringer, Research Associate |Universität Stuttgart

SAP @ Academy of Management

The Academy of Management (AOM) is the preeminent professional association for management and organization scholars.

In 2010, the Interest Group „Strategizing Activities and Practices“ was founded. Since then, each year during the AOM Meeting, the Interest Group hosts panel symposia, presenter symposia, paper sessions, and business meetings.

The European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) is a scholarly association which aims to further the theoretical and/or empirical advancement of knowledge about organizations, organizing and the contexts in which organizations operate.

In 2005, an SAP Standing Working Group was founded, operating until 2014. Since 2015, SAP scholars organize the SAP Community Day as part of the annual EGOS Colloquium Pre-Colloquium Workshops. The SAP Community Day is an inclusive platform to build, strengthen, and extend relationships within the broader EGOS community.
For SAP scholars spread across different sub-themes of the Colloquium, this pre-Colloquium workshop provides an opportunity to exchange informally, to discuss new theoretical ideas and methods, and to receive feedback on working or emerging papers.

For joining an SAP Community Day during an EGOS Colloquium, please visit the EGOS website on Pre-Colloquium Workshops.
