Dear SAP-IN members,

The next Strategy-as-Practice Review Group (SAP-R) meeting is scheduled to take place on April 29th (10:30am – 4:00pm) at Saïd Business School, Oxford University.  These meetings were established on behalf of the Strategy-as-Practice international network to provide a friendly, supportive and stimulating forum where scholars, with a common interest in the practice of strategy, can come together to help colleagues develop their papers and, in particular, address reviewer comments.

If you would like to participate, please contact Gary Burke (burkeg@aston.ac.uk).  All are welcome, although we are especially keen to attract scholars with experience of the revise and resubmit process, as authors, reviewers or editors.  There is no registration fee and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

We need at least one more paper to discuss, so if you have a suitable manuscript plus journal feedback please send us details.  We are happy to include both 'revise and resubmits' and 'rejects' - we hope that SAP-R can help in either case!

We look forward to seeing some of you at Oxford,

Gary Burke (Aston),

New book on Practice Theory

I wanted to bring to your attention a new book that will be of interest for most S-as-P colleagues:

Davide Nicolini  Practice Theory, Work, and Organization. An Introduction   Oxford University Press.

The volume provides a rigorous yet accessible introduction to practice theory. Recognizing that a unified theory of practice does not exist, the volume surveys the main scholarly traditions that have, collectively, contributed to the practice turn in social and organization studies. Each chapter examines the main assumptions and concepts of these traditions, discussing their distinctive contribution to work and organization studies. The chapters are accompanied by a fully worked example of how the theory can be applied to empirical research, making the text suitable for teaching purposes.
Here is how Richard Whittington describes the book "Deep and broad, argumentative and pluralistic, theoretical and methodological, this is a landmark book. For the growing community of practice-orientated scholars in organization studies, Davide Nicolini's book provides the go-to resource."

A 20% discount coupon for S-as -P members is attached.
